Finding it Deep Down: Steps into Inner Healing

It takes raw courage to get in touch with your inner self and become a better person by shunning everything that represents the dark side. Paul McCartney could not have said it any better in his 90s hit “Hope of Deliverance,” one line of which ends with “from the darkness that surrounds us.”

The initial path of healing is to come to terms will the negative feelings that have built up within you such as fear, jealousy, and insecurity. Some theologians say holding on to these actually blocks the Holy Spirit from cleansing you of them. Letting things out by crying even helps acceptance, especially when you have a friend to share your pain with.

In Luke 23:34, Jesus Christ asked God to forgive those who put him on the cross because they didn't know what they were doing. You will have to find it within you to forgive those who dealt you injustice. At the same time, you will need to let go of earthly luxuries.

The path to healing oneself as part of accepting God into your life is indeed hard, but will be more than worth the trouble in the end. It is a good way to accept the Almighty's enlightenment and prepare for the Second Coming.
